Furthermore, Shannon expressed to him &#8220;.. misgivings about using his definition of entropy for applications beyond communication channels&#8221;.  <\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if Shannon knew much about thermodynamics or not &#8211; he was an engineer and mathematician.
