Melting

I'd coiled up some scrap aluminium strips, but they were a bit big for my cruicible and stuck out of the top of the furnace.

Ah, that's what the hole is for! ;-)

After taking this photo, I move the extension cord slightly further away from the furnace. Hot things and electricity don't mix.

The furnace sits on top of a clod of turf, in the vain hope of avoiding cooking the lawn.
